[website] Get paid for doing interviews with NotchUp.com
Notchup aims to get you paid for doing interviews. It’s currently in private beta. Basically potential employers review your profile and make you an offer to come in for an interview. It can slurp up your LinkedIn profile which is nice. Also if you turn your friends on to NotchUp you can receive a 10% referral fee for each interview they do. You do have the option of hiding your information from independent recruiters or specific company’s (like your current employer). The site is free for job seekers and companies foot the bill for each interview.

I stumbled across NotchUp over at TechCrunch: Stealth Job Site NotchUp Makes Companies Pay To Interview You. They have more service details and a good discussion thread going on. Some folks in are asking some interesting questions in regards to the service (as I paraphrase):
- Are potential employers actually willing to pay for interviews?
- What stops people from “NotchUp camping” and simply living off interviews?
There appears to be a rating system similar to eBay that lets employers rate you on how seriously you took the interview - Does this become a trolling ground to facilitate corporate espionage?
And finally one poster points out that in current NotchUp Terms & Conditions, they (NotchUp) are not actually responsible for paying job seekers, thats the responsibility off the companies:
If You are contacted by a Company on NotchUp and appear for an interview at the request of such Company, the Company will be responsible for paying Your Interview Fee to You within thirty days of such interview. You agree to hold NotchUp harmless for any failure by the Company to pay the Interview Fee. The Interview Fee is the sole responsibility of the Company. Your sole recourse for non-payment of the Interview Fee is to contact the Company
Many seem to think the idea just wont fly. That said, sign me up!
Update 1.28.08: Looks like the beta isn’t so private anymore.
